THE RICHARDSON-SLOANE SPECIAL COLLECTIONS – Online Resources
-The Richardson-Sloane Special Collection’s mission is to not only preserve local history and genealogical materials, but also provide access to the materials, but also provide access to the materials.  Users of our collections may be familiar with our Library’s Catalog which is used to search our published items include books, periodicals, journals, maps and some microfilm.  Our catalog provides valuable descriptive information about an item’s publication details as well as notes about copy specific information include it provenance, inscriptions, and binding, if appropriate.
– In addition to our Library’s Catalog, we have two other sites that users can search to find materials house in our collections.  One such site it is our Archive and Manuscript Catalog.  With this catalog, users can search for finding aids of our archival, manuscript, photographic, architectural, and map collections.  These descriptions inform users of what types of holdings we have and if they can answer their questions.  Most collections have brief descriptions, but the staff of the Richardson-Sloane Special Collections Center will help answer any questions that arise.  —
– Our final site that users can search is our upper Mississippi Valley Digital Image Archive.  This archive is a digital image consortium collection containing digitalized and digital images from 13 institutions from and surrounding the Quad Cities.  It has grown since its creation in 2002 to include images of textual works as well as sound recordings.  Users can search across all the institutions’ collections or search individually.  Each image has robust metadata describing the image and its history.
